Sometimes it seems like the only rule to home decorating is "the more expensive, the better your taste." It isn't hard to forget what you're doing and get caught up in the "vision" of your home instead of keeping track of what you spend. People who work with super tight budgets usually get stressed out because they are afraid that they won't be able to decorate their homes the way that they want. There are a lot of things that you can use for decorating that don't cost a lot of money.

This article will give you a few ideas about how to decorate your home without having to spend a lot of money.

Forget the high end galleries. Buying new art isn't important right now. Take some time to find prints of your favorite artwork. It is way cheaper to buy prints. It is easier to take prints home and hang them than it is to do the same with original works of art. Prints are even easier to frame than original paintings-you can do the framing yourself (which helps save money)! Frame the print yourself by buying a frame from a sale rack-this saves you money on the frame and the act of putting the print inside of it. You can do this on the weekend or the evenings and you won't have to worry about rushing to pick up your art before the framer closes and you won't have to worry about how you are going to afford that painting you love so much by your favorite artist.

You don't have to fill up every inch of decorating space in your home. If you crowd your walls with paintings and prints it won't be long before your home starts to feel crowded and cluttered-even when it is clean! Give your decorations space!

Instead of placing ten knickknacks on a shelf; stick to two or three. When you choose carefully you'll have more appreciation for the pieces you've chosen. Smashing a bunch of photos and paintings on a wall might seem like a good idea, but you'll just crowd out your favorite pieces and make it hard to enjoy any of your decorations at all. A little bare space is necessary in any decorating scheme. The first thing any good decorator learns is to embrace the empty spaces in a room.

Get creative! Why not decorate with ordinary household items? Believe it or not, pots and pans can be great pieces of art-especially since you can still use them to cook! You won't have to worry about being able to find the pan you need-it will be right there on the wall!

If it was good enough for Julia Child it's good enough for you! What about the really pretty patterned blanket that you never get to bring out because you don't want it to get dirty? Wouldn't it make a great wall hanging? Who says that quilts and blankets only belong on beds and couches? Look around-what functional item can you display? You don't have to spend tons of money on home decorating. There is no need to dedicate great chunks of time to home decorating. Decorating your house is supposed to be fun! When a home decorating project takes up all of your time, empties your bank account and causes you a lot of stress it is harder to enjoy the finished project.
